Known under the pseudonym “Master Chacka”; a taekwondo coach was arrested by Gabonese police on Tuesday for alleged “acts of pedophilia”.
Martin Avera; known in Gabon under the pseudonym “Master Chacka”; was arrested by Gabonese police on Tuesday for “acts of pedophilia” charged with “numerous victims”.
The arrest of this taekwondo coach follows that of Patrick Assoumou Eyi; the former Gabonese soccer coach of the U-17 National Team; accused of allegedly sexual assault on hundreds of children.
“An investigation is being carried out and all those implicated in the acts of pedophilia will be arrested;” added the judicial source close to the case.
For Romain Molina; the French journalist at the origin of the revelations about the acts of pedophilia that dot Gabonese sport; Martin Avera was “a great name of Gabonese taekwondo” who “has sexually assaulted children by force since the 90s” .
“Friend-friend” before using force
“I have received testimonies from at least ten families; the majority of children between the ages of 10 and 14;” he told AFP.
-He makes friends; establishes a trusting relationship; then lures the children into his home and asks them for favors. Then use force; threat –; he added.
“This kind of attitude should be prohibited and strongly condemned;” reacted Denis Mboumba Nziengui; president of the Gabonese Taekwondo Federation; who stated; however; “never having receivedjournaltimeplaints about this coach and being surprised.”
“We are supporting the families of the victims and we are going to see how the federation can support them;” he continued.
Martín Avera had been suspended eight days ago from all taekwondo activity by the president of the league of the province of the capital Libreville. Questioned by various local media; he proclaimed his innocence.
