January 12, 2021 update : Formula 1 has announced the postponement of the Australian Grand Prix to November, the season now due to start on March 28 in Bahrain.

The 2021 Formula 1 World Championship kicks off in Australia one year after the false start of the season 2020, when the coronavirus suddenly broke into the paddock. The great circus was present in full force at Melbourne’s Albert Park but the Grand Prix was postponed and later canceled, like most of the rounds of the first part of the season.

Hopefully, 2021 bodes well: Australia is misguided but requires quarantine periods for overseas travelers and the Tennis Open has already been postponed for three weeks for this reason.

Another uncertainty of the F1 2021 calendar: the project of a new Grand Prix in Vietnam is compromised and the date of April 25 remains open, with several circuits used in 2020 already candidates, including Istanbul and Portimao.

F1 2021 winter testing is scheduled for March 4-6 in Barcelona, while the Spanish Grand Prix has yet to negotiate its contract to preserve its organization on May 9.

Can the races be held in the presence of the public? This is the wish of the promoters but it is not yet clear what the COVID-19 situation will be next spring.

The organizers of the French Grand Prix, scheduled for the last weekend of June, plan to limit spectators to 15,000 people per day.
