West Ham United finished fourth in the Premier League on Wednesday night. Coach David Moyes’ team won 2-0 in front of their home crowd Norwich City and has accumulated 37 points from 21 games; Arsenal are now fifth with 35 points from 20 games. Tottenham Hotspur follow in sixth place with 33 points from 18 games; Manchester United with 31 from 19. There are several clubs that have their sights set on the all-important fourth place.

Norwich; with Tim Krul under the bar; started the game promisingly. Striker Adam Idah in particular looked menacing but as the first half progressed West Ham came out on top. Ten minutes before the break seemed the hammers reward yourself with a goal. A cross from Jarrod Bowen from a short corner went wide and went behind Krul in the goal; but the goal was disallowed. Nikola Vlasic was involved in the game in an offside position; the referee ruled.

Shortly thereafter; West Ham took the lead. Vladimir Coufal flicked the ball into the box from the right wing; where Bowen jumped above guard and headed in from close range. Norwich got off well when Krul grabbed Nikola Vlasic in the face in goal and threw him to the ground as no penalty followed. In the second half; Michail Antonio missed a good opportunity to extend West Ham’s lead; after which Idah hit the post from outside the box on the opposing side. Goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski was already beaten and could breathe a sigh of relief.

West Ham finally won the match on the counter with seven minutes to go. After work from Pablo Fornals; Arthur Masuaku brought the ball to Bowen; who shot from close range. The goal was initially disallowed for offside; but later awarded. West Ham recorded their fourth official win in a row; adding to the problems faced by Norwich; who are ten points fewer in the Premier League. Virtually safe number seventeen Watford has three points more.
