Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard plans to sign Liverpool’s Joe Gomez to replace Axel Tuanzebe; who owned Manchester United; according to The Express & Star.

Manchester United reportedly reminds Tuanzebe of his loan deal at Villa and then sends him back to Napoli.

The 24-year-old English defender is said to be open to moving to Italy and playing for Napoli in Serie A.

Villa is therefore looking for a defender to replace Tuanzebe.

And according to The Express & Star; they have identified Gomez; 24; from Liverpool as a replacement.

Liverpool’s Joe Gomez unlikely at Aston Villa

In our opinion; Liverpool are unlikely to approve a Gomez exit in the January transfer window.

The Sunday Mirror (November 28; p.72) reported that the coach of Villa Gerrard wanted to sign a loan deal with the England international in January.

The same post claimed the following week that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp would not loan the 24-year-old Gomez.

In our opinion; Liverpool will not be loaning out as important a player as Gomez this month.

We saw how hard Liverpool struggled with injuries last season.

With the Reds looking to win the Premier League and Champions League this season; Klopp certainly won’t want to weaken his squad.
