Ambitious Perseverance chooses Jan Pruijn; former coach of NEC and Helmond Sport | Regional Sports

VIERLINGSBEEK – Perseverance reinforces the ambitions. The football association from Vierlingsbeek has signed Jan Pruijn as the new head coach. The experienced coach from Molenhoek must lead the club back to the main division.

Pruijn (63) takes plenty of professional luggage to Volharding. For example; he was coach of NEC. He guided the Nijmegen professionals to the Eredivisie and the cup final between 1991 and 1994. Pruijn was also at the helm of De Treffers and Helmond Sport and worked at youth academies all over the world; from China to South Africa; from the United States to Lebanon.

He has been back in the Netherlands since 2015. At the beginning of this season; Pruijn; who just before was a trainer for two more years at the then main division Alverna; still the lead among the amateurs of NEC. That employment turned out to be a flash marriage. He left the Nijmegen first division team at the end of November. -I had to make too many concessions to who I was. I missed the total willingness in players;” Pruijn reacted at the time.

Notwithstanding

At Volharding; Pruijn is the successor of Johan Vullings; who is in his fourth season at Soetendaal sports park. Sailant: Pruijn had Vullings under his wing as a player at SV Venray. ;;Jan is a trainer who sets high standards for players’; says Rob Branje on behalf of the technical committee of Volharding. -That someone with his track record chooses to work at Volharding fills us with pride.–

Pruijn: ;;Volharding is an association with a rich history and an excellent youth academy. The club wants to move up and I want to help them with my knowledge and experience. It’s not about the highest level for me; but about the vision; ambition; enthusiasm and possibilities of the club. When I saw the vacancy; I immediately thought: ‘That could be a club that suits me’. And that feeling has only been strengthened during the various conversations.–

Pruijn will receive assistance from Dennis Rikken at Volharding next season. The 46-year-old Gravenaar is currently Vullings’ right-hand man. He was previously the trainer of Volharding 2. Club icon Marvin Chirino from Boxmeer is now and next year in charge of that team.
