
Bern (awp / ats) – Switzerland has 36,740 additional cases of coronavirus in 24 hours on Thursday, according to figures from the Federal Office of Public Health (OFSP). A further 18 deaths and 150 patients were hospitalized.
Seven days ago, the FOPH announced 44,842 cases, or a further 8,102. On the same day, it counted 16 deaths and 149 additional hospitals.
There are currently 690 people in intensive care. Covid-19 patients occupy 24.2% of the places available in intensive care, with an occupancy rate of 80%.
In the last 24 hours, 104,591 test results were transmitted. The positive rate stands at 35.1%, compared to 34.1% a week ago. The reproduction rate, which is delayed by about ten days, is 1.11.
The Omicron variant represents 96% of cases of coronavirus sequenced or examined in laboratories over seven days, with a delay of about two weeks.
More than 120,000 isolated
According to the FOPH, 122,534 people alone are currently tested positive for coronavirus. And a further 64,388 people who had contact with infected people were quarantined.
68.35% of Swiss people have already received two doses of the vaccine. Compared to the population over 12 years of age, the share of fully vaccinated people is 77.73%, the FOPH indicates. In addition, 74.57% of people aged 65 and over and 39.83% of the population have already received a booster.
In the last fourteen days, the total number of infections was 463,867, or 5,326.08 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants. Since the start of the pandemic, 2,331,078 cases of Covid-19 contamination have been confirmed in the laboratory out of a total of 17,720,648 tests performed in Switzerland and Liechtenstein. The total number of deaths stands at 12,422 and hospital admissions have reached 43,790.
