The House of Alba reaches the metaverse and presents the NFT of a letter from Christopher Columbus

The World Economic Forum meeting in Davos, held May 22-26, had a section dedicated to new technologies and the opportunities they could bring in the future. On this curious occasion, the field of history has been favoured. The protagonist? Alba’s House. With the financing of the noble family, a NFT of one of the letters written by Christopher Columbus to Isabel la Católica.

The foundation that manages the heritage of the noble family presented on May 25, one of the letters written by Christopher Columbus to Isabel the Catholic, which has been his property for generations. But the most important thing is that said letter has become NFT (Non fungible Token). In this way, a historical piece will become one more element of the metaverse.

According to Seville Journal, La Casa de Alba has no intention, at the moment, of putting its new NFT work of art on sale, at least for a long period of 3 years. On the other hand, the foundation would be more than happy to exhibit his work in contemporary art museums, which is why he is contacting possible interested parties.

The foundation has also left open its interest in continuing to carry out NFT works, as a way of expanding the family’s legacy in Europe over time. Which shows that interest in NFT art and the metaverse seems to be growing over time in all types of art as well as social strata.

A candidate in the first row is the residence of the House of Alba, in addition to the headquarters of its invaluable art collection, the Lyra Palace. Eminent palace urban located in Madridand built in the eighteenth century.

“Perhaps tomorrow the visit to the Liria palace can be made in the metaverse, it is a very exciting project with which we want to learn”.

Much has been made about NFTs, often associated with art. There has been an explosion in the creation of NFTs lately, accompanied by an interest in the metaverse. Investors, museums, artists, programmers and now noble houses stand out among its stakeholders. But what exactly are they?

NFTs are the vault key, the cornerstone, of the metaverseor the metaverses, because the experts explain that there will not be just one, but many, and that each one will have its aesthetics, its uses, and associated brands that will make it more or less interesting for consumers. What will be unique will be the NFTs that must be able to travel together with the identified user, to any metaverse.

One point to note is that there are different uses for NFTs, as recently demonstrated; the best known of them is perhaps speculation. Thanks to the popularity of this system, NFTs have been associated with a bubble. Nevertheless, It should be remembered that NFTs are also a way of storing digital information through a chain of blocks. Because of human ideas such as “investment” and “speculation”, they are not found intrinsically related to any NFT.

On this last point, the use of NFTs as a secure means of information storage would represent an important opportunity for many museums. It must be said that it is still in the process of being adopted, but the benefits of its use have already been demonstrated previously, especially in terms of works of art or history of marked antiquity.

An example of the latter was the project of the Ufizzi Gallery, in which they created digital versions of the works of art of three of the greatest exponents of Italian painting; to date unforgettable Caravaggio, Modigliani and Leonardo da Vinci. These parts are verified by the system blockchain which has guaranteed its securityas well as its preservation.
