Sytral: a contract worth 13 million euros for the purchase of electric buses

Soon new electric buses in Lyon and the city! The Oblibus platform, operated by Caisse des Dépôts in partnership with the European Investment Bank, has signed a financing contract with Sytral for up to 13 million euros enabling it to acquire electric vehicles intended for its old diesel buses. funding.

The C16 linking Vénissieux with Villeurbanne is the first line to welcome the first 13 vehicles. With almost 10,000 daily trips, it was put into service in November 2021.

This funding is part of the role of the European Commission’s partner of the Caisse des Dépôts group on the “Connecting Europe Facility” program.

Type of financial security for Sytral

Oblibus offers a financing offer that allows the exposure of mobility organizing authorities – here Sytral – to be limited in the face of rising electricity costs thanks to a controlled interest rate, which develops in the opposite direction to the cost of electricity worn by the electric bus.

This approach is part of the ambitions to support the greening of mobility, a key pillar of the “Climate Plan” presented by the Banque des Territoires in September 2020.
