He declares that the site would be kept as a nearby space and that the Bishop of Bilbao could build his headquarters on another city plot.
BILBAO, 26 (EUROPE PRESS)
The Abando Habitable platform asked the political parties in their electoral proposals to protect the exchange of the site held by the Old BAM Teachers’ School so that this area is kept as a “nearby space” and the Bishop of Bilbao can build his take with him. various services of the Diocese in another city.
In a statement, he explained that they continue to demand a “green and proximity” space for the Abando neighborhood and the Cervantes school on the BAM site, where the Bishop of Bilbao plans to make his diocesan headquarters project and Mutualia will be built. clinic.
As he recalled, after the demolition of the BAM building, excavation works were to begin in the summer of 2022 to start this project, but “the reality is that the works have not started.”
Abando Habitable explained that the excavation does not start because the developer and construction company Murias, from the Urbas group, with which the Bishop has signed a contract, “stopped paying some subcontractors and no one wants to work with him, since that it gathers non-contractors. – payments of more than a million euros, according to journalistic and trade union sources.
As he said, this fact can be seen in another project in Gipuzkoa, in which Ikerbasque terminated a contract with Murias due to the “stoppage of works”. In addition, it was explained from the Platform that these “tensions and financial debts” of Murias extend to other companies of the Urbas group, such as Urrutia, which was replaced in the Garellano tower works “due to its inability. to continue the works ».
In addition to all this is the fact that the Urbas management is also waiting for a trial in the National Court for fraud in the increase of capital, as well as appearing every year on the list of the biggest defaulters with the Treasury.
Therefore, he believes that the stoppage of the works “has waited” and that “years could have passed with this open wound in the middle of the neighborhood.” “And we want to ask the parties running for mayor of Bilbao to tell us what they plan to do in this situation: What are the proposals of the political parties with this hole in Abando?”, D’ he asked.
In his opinion, the exchange is a “viable exchange” and would mean a “good solution” for the neighborhood and the school located near the site, which is why he considers that the parties should protect it among their election recommendations.
Abando Habitable, which planted a banner in the area demanding this solution, has said that the exchange would mean “keeping the unbuilt plot as a neighborhood space and that the Bishop would be allowed to build his headquarters on another municipal plot.”
In this sense, he recalled that the Bilbao City Council recently made an exchange so that the residence for Abando pensioners and pensioners will be located in a more accessible place, Henao Street, instead of on the Uribitarte ramps. «If there is political will, everything is possible. That is why we say there is a park on this plot. Exchange now!”, he said.
