(02/13/23). The first Super Bowl ad from PopCorners Popped-Corn Snack would revive the most popular TV series of all time, “Breaking Bad,” 10 years after its beloved characters went off the air.
PopCorners’ first Super Bowl campaign recreated the TV series “Breaking Bad” to benefit Something Good, the healthy snack business.
Tasty, crunchy and healthy snack corn breaks convention and opens up new snacking possibilities with great taste and core ingredients in seven delicious flavors.
“Bringing PopCorners to the Super Bowl stage for the first time is a great moment for a brand on the rise,” said Brett O’Brien, director of marketing for Frito-Lay North America. “We’re showing why fans love this air-inflated, never-fried snack in an unexpectedly exciting way through the lens of two characters who could use their talents to Walk Into something good.”
PopCorners has brought the ad to life in a truly authentic way by partnering with many of the original cast and crew of the hit series, including actors Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul and Raymond Cruz, who reprise their roles as Walter White, Jesse Pinkman and Tuco Salamanca, as well as “Breaking Bad” creator, head writer, executive producer and director Vince Gilligan. Inspired by the original “Breaking Bad” story, the spot reimagined iconic scenes and incorporated elements from the series that fans were excited about, including original features like the infamous trailer and Tuco’s wardrobe.
“PopCorners’ desire to create a true extension of the franchise and a campaign that would really excite Breaking Bad fans with this Super Bowl ad brought us back,” said Cranston. “Walt would have been immediately drawn to the basic ingredients of PopCorners, so ‘Breaking Good’ made a lot of sense as an alternative storyline that would have been much better for him and Jesse.”
“There’s nothing better than getting characters that matter so much to be revived, surrounded by so many of our original musicians and crew, for the most exciting sporting event of the year,” Paul said. “We are grateful that PopCorners has given us the wonderful opportunity to reunite our ‘Breaking Bad’ family, especially with a brand that I believe is poised to become the world’s mainstream snack food.”
“Breaking Good” premiered on television during Super Bowl LVII in the first commercial break of the third quarter. In addition to the TVC, PopCorners released images and two video teasers ahead of the game and released an extended version of the ad online.
