Chantiers de l’Atlantique on Wednesday delivered a massive new 326-meter-long and 60-meter-tall liner, the “Celebrity Beyond”, ordered by American ship owner Royal Caribbean Group.
“We are starting again the delivery cycle, which suffered during the pandemic”, Laurent Castaing, director of Chantiers de l’Atlantique, rejoiced after the delivery ceremony.
The health crisis had delayed the initial delivery date of linen, which was built in two years, by six months.
The “Celebrity Beyond”, known as “more than a billion euros” according to the Chantiers de l’Atlantique, can accommodate almost 4,000 passengers and 1,400 crew.

“It’s a great day for us. We can be proud of the work being done here,” Lisa Luttof-Perlo, president of Celebrity Cruises, a Royal Caribbean brand, told the team.
Its CEO, Jason Liberty, praised the ship as “exceptional” and said it was “proud” to deliver its first liner since taking office in January.
A true floating city with restaurants, swimming pools, shops and a theater, the “Celebrity Beyond” is the third line of Celebrity Cruises built in Saint-Nazaire, and the largest of its fleet.
A quarter is “already under construction” and a fifth is “optional,” Laurent Castaing said.

“The market is restarting, customers are confident. Our order book is complete for the next three years. Now, it’s a question of continuing to fill in the future,” he confirmed.
When asked about the future of oil-powered liners, Chantiers de l’Atlantique’s director of operations, Jean-Yves Jaouen, replied that the future would be “on the side of a multi-fuel solution”.
The first LNG-powered liner built in France should be delivered at the end of the year in Saint-Nazaire to the Swiss shipowner MSC Croisières.
“Celebrity Beyond” event is scheduled for April 15th. Its original cruise will connect the UK with Spain, from Southampton to Barcelona.
