The professionals of Eintracht Frankfurt are in demand; a Bundesliga competitor is currently vying for a defender from Frankfurt. He was now responding to the rumor.

+++ January 6; 5.15 pm: On Wednesday; the portal sport.de wrote about an alleged interest of Borussia Mönchengladbach in Martin Hinteregger from Frankfurt. The day after the news; the 29-year-old Eintracht professional was approached by a fan on Instagram about the transfer rumor; Bild newspaper reported. The defender only responded to the speculation with the phrase; “Haha; that’s a bad insider.”

So there doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with the message. A move from the Austrian to his ex-club; where he gained his first experiences abroad in the second half of the 2015/16 season; seems to be off the table. Hinteregger has often emphasized in the past that he still wanted to give something back to the club. So he doesn’t seem to think about saying goodbye just yet.

Eintracht Frankfurt: Hinteregger in talks with Bundesliga competitor?

First report of January 6: Frankfurt – Early last week; national player Matthias Ginter announced his departure from Borussia Mönchengladbach. At the end of the season; the central defender leaves the Bundesliga club; reportedly Inter Milan vying for his services*. Since then; Borussia has been looking for a suitable replacement for Ginter. Ironically; a former Gladbacher currently with… Eintracht Frankfurt under contract could now replace him; according to sport.de.

Unsurprisingly; Martin Hinteregger is a sporting candidate for Borussia. The Austrian international is an absolute top player at Eintracht; having played in 14 Bundesliga games and three Europa League games this season; he was never replaced. In ten of his league appearances this season; the 29-year-old even led his team onto the pitch as captain.

Eintracht Frankfurt: Hinteregger could bring in millions of SGE with one change

As the Sport1 broadcaster recently learned; those in charge in Gladbach have contacted Hinteregger in recent weeks and conveyed their “fundamental interest”. As a result; initial talks have already been held with the stubborn defensive player; but it has not yet become concrete.

Even though Hinteregger is one of the most trusted professionals at Eintracht; he is not considered unsaleable. To sign the Frankfurt defense chief; Mönchengladbach would have to buy him out of his contract; which is valid until 2024. According to information from Sport1; a change could be made with a corresponding offer; Hinteregger would also have been informed. The broadcaster reports a possible transfer between six and eight million euros; which will be payable in the event of a transfer. Given the losses during the pandemic; this would be a boon for the SGE.

Eintracht Frankfurt: Probably no Hinteregger change in the winter

Mönchengladbach is currently in crisis and the club is in 14th place after a sobering first half of the season; only two points separate the foals from relegation. However; it is highly unlikely that Hinteregger will move to the Lower Rhine in the now open transfer window. For him personally; however; it would not be the first winter change to Gladbach.

In January 2016; he was loaned out to Borussia for six months and was allowed to taste the Bundesliga for the first time. After ten missions; he returned to Salzburg before FC Augsburg signed him in the summer of the same year for 10.5 million euros. At the end of January 2019; Hinteregger came to Frankfurt on loan for the first time and moved permanently to Hesse for 9 million euros.

Eintracht Frankfurt: Hinteregger recently raved about Gladbach manager Eberl

A few months ago; Hinteregger was consistently positive about Borussia when he was about the move of Adi Hütter to Mönchengladbach spoke. He even told Sport Bild that he had advised his compatriot to move to his new job. -If you can work with Max Eberl; there are hardly any better options. Because I haven’t met much better people in the football world than Max Eberl;” he says enthusiastically about the Gladbach manager. Furthermore; Borussia is a “very cool” club; and there are clearly sympathies.

Should the Austrian decide to move; one of the most authentic professionals would leave Eintracht. In this case; those responsible for Frankfurt would have to look for two new central defenders; as Evan Ndicka is also linked with a summer move. Only Tuta could stay with the Adler as a nominal central defender. (ajr) * tz.de is an offer from IPPEN.MEDIA
